Joey Alexander Trio
Piano virtuoso Joey Alexander must be seen live to be believed!
Date/Time: , 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm
Known for fingers that virtually fly over the keys, Joey Alexander has rocked the music world with his seemingly effortless talent and musical sophistication from a young age. Not many jazz musicians can boast three GRAMMY Award nominations before age 16 or five studio albums to their fame before they’re 20 – but Joey can. At only 10 years old, he was hand-picked to mentor under jazz heavyweight Wynton Marsalis and now he is strengthening his reputation as the future of modern jazz at age 19 with his 2022 release, Origin – his debut as both a composer and band leader. From Downbeat magazine, “[Joey] Alexander’s effortless pianism always hits the right notes. His breezy, playful curiosity…is deeply refreshing.”
Join the 2022-23 Jazz series from Arts Commons Presents for an evening of undeniable talent from the Jack Singer Concert Hall stage with the Calgary debut of the Joey Alexander Trio.
