This isn't our first rodeo! Calgary has proudly hosted the Grey Cup five times before, marking the 113th Grey Cup our sixth. The story of Calgary fans shaping the Grey Cup Festival into the iconic celebration it is today dates back to 1948, when spirited Stampeders fans traveled to Toronto aboard the legendary "Stampeder Special"—a 14-car train carrying a dozen horses, chuckwagon, dance floor, bar, diner, and more than 250 western-dressed fans. After three days of nonstop partying, they arrived in Toronto and continued to celebrate with parades, fiddlers, square dancing, pancake breakfasts, and created the unforgettable moment of riding a horse through the Royal York Hotel lobby.

That passion for the festival and community is still alive today. For the Cenovus Energy 2026 Grey Cup Festival in Calgary, we invite everyone to experience our deep-rooted passion for the event.
